A month?!

 Can't believe it's been a month since I've posted. Sure I've been busy. But is that fair to my dear reader(s)? No, it's not. So here I am.

Since my last post I've read three books and am still reading War and Peace. First on tap was an Esperanto book called Sur Kampo Granita (On a granite field) by Istvan Nemere. What a sad book. Definitely involves war, specifically WWII and then decades later, a former Nazi lieutenant returning to an Italian town where he had made a difficult decision during the War. 

I also read the next adventure of Professor Fitger in The Shakespeare Requirement, by Julie Schumacher. Incredibly funny, along the lines of Sharpe. I loved it. I hope she writes more around this character and setting (dysfunctional university, although that's probably an unnecessary adjective). 

Finally, Leaving Earth: Space Stations, Rival Superpowers, and the Quest for Interplanetary Travel, by Robert Zimmerman. Excellent book, covering manned flight up to about 2002. Hope for an update someday. Great book and especially fun to read after I'd been to the cosmonaut training site outside Moscow. 

And I'm two books behind in the family book club, and am now reading The Red Badge of Courage (my pick! I'm so behind!). It's a short book so hope to be done by this weekend then I'll start my wife's pick The Dubliners. So far Red Badge is awesome. That man could write. 

There you go folks. Sorry I've been absent. Oh! Language-wise I'm having fun. Still doing Coptic (lesson 5 now!) and will start Hittite next week (with the Glyphstudy folks). Also, the pool manager at the base pool is from Sri Lanka, so I've been asking him for words/phrases every day. And of course I had to download a book (Spoken Sinhala Made Simple). Fun fun fun! සුබ දවසක් වේවා!
